Vision
We envision a school that promotes a positive learning environment focusing
on the personnel and technological resources of the entire school community.
This will allow students to take responsibility for their own achievement,
and will encourage a sense of pride and respect in themselves and their

Mission
The mission of the Venice Middle School is to develop self-directed, life-long
learners.
It is the mission of Oak Park South to provide our students with experiences leading to successful interactions with others, and an optimal learning environment, individualized to their specific needs and learning style. Staff will have access to training based on the latest research, technology and curriculum responsive to individual student needs.

The Venice Middle School/Oak Park South:
Will establish and maintain collaborative relationships with businesses, corporations, organizations, and agencies and link these resources to teacher/student educational needs.
Will develop the natural resources of its campus to provide sites for ecological education and outdoor recreation through collaborative relationships with businesses, organizations and agencies, staff, students and their families.
Will facilitate the development of
booster organizations composed of parents and community members, to
support each Learning Community, student performance activity, student
organization and interscholastic athletic team.
Learning Environment
Venice Middle School/Oak Park South:
Will provide a learning environment that exhibits middle school & ESE middle and elementary school best practices.
Will use technology to enhance learning.
Will provide exploratory and elective course options.
Will provide physical education classes to promote fitness, health, and wellness.
Will strive to have students perform on or above grade level, or to their best ability, in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics.
Will provide remedial classes in the areas of writing, reading and mathematics.
Will provide transitional activities that will enable incoming and outgoing students to be confident in their learning environment.
Will explore methods of authentic assessment as well as continue traditional assessments.
Will assess how students learn and use this information to improve instruction for all students.
Will develop communities of learning based on the interests of the parents, students and staff.
Will provide career exploration experiences for all students.
Will use mastery learning and will differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students in mixed ability groups.
Will provide professional staff development
in alignment with the goals of the school.
